Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA) Celebrate 40 Years Of Success And Innovation

Singapore Industrial Automation Association, a leading association that spearheaded technology and innovation on Automation, IOT and Robotics within Singapore and the region celebrated its 40th anniversary dinner on Oct. 6th, 2023, at Park Royal on Beach Road.

This celebration is a key milestone for the association, as it made an important announcement on the association’s transformational and rejuvenating plan to an audience of more than 350 guests and industry participants. The association also shared with the guests and participants on the journey from the past to the present and the future of the association evolution.

The theme for the celebration is: “The evolution of automation, Past, Present and the future” The event was graced by special guest SMS Dr. Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Sustainability and Ministry of Manpower and he is also the patron of SIAA. The guest of honour was MOS Alvin Tan, Minister of State for the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Minster of State for Culture, Communication and Youth and he is also the adviser for SIAA.

On the event day, there were highlights and a commemorative display by invited participants. The association had invited eight of the SIAA past presidents to the event in which there was a segment to thank them for their contributions, helping Singapore to shape the Automation and Robotics landscape and initiatives throughout the past 40 years.

There was an announcement of a highly anticipated transformational plan from SIAA, as it unveiled a new name and logo on the event day itself – SIAA rebranded as ‘AutomationSG’.

 

There was also a section where the office bearers and council members shared the milestones and plan of how they had worked towards this plan for the next three to five years forward planning of its initiatives.

In line with the unveiling of the transformational plan, the event day itself saw an execution of three MOU signing sessions witnessed by the association’s Adviser. It had signed an MOU with the Singapore National Robotic Program office; it had signed a 2nd MOU with Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic. The last MOU was with another association, “Brand for Good” on initiatives on sustainability. There was the launch of a commemorative video on the association as well.

Overall, there were a total of 350 confirmed guests who had attended the event, and they were professional and ‘C’ level management personnel from the automation, IOT and robotics industries, Government agencies, country trade offices, institutes of higher learning, trade association leaders and also the association’s key members.

The automation industry has transformed tremendously in the last four decades, and it had become increasingly important to enable the different industry sectors to achieve their business goals respectively, and kickstart their own transformation journeys.

As the association had embarked on the next phase of its journey; continuing the mission to develop and support Singapore companies and the country’s economy in Automation, IoT and Robotics while evolving and keeping pace with times to continue staying relevant, it is very meaningful to witness this special celebration, as it signified the evolution of the Singapore Industrial Automation Association from achieving key objectives of Automation, IOT and robotics to encompassing AI and Sustainability in the next chapter.
