SEMICON Southeast Asia 2024: A Key Event for Singaporean Electronics Players

The semiconductor supply chain across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is expected to reach US$100.90 billion in revenue in 2024, with an expected 8.84% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2024 to 2027 as Southeast Asia is poised to expand its presence in the global semiconductor value chain.

Emerging technologies such as AI promise to fuel growth of Southeast Asia’s semiconductor ecosystem as they give rise to a host of next-generation consumer devices and industrial equipment.

“Singapore represents ASEAN’s semiconductor future on two fronts,” said Linda Tan, President of SEMI Southeast Asia. “Firstly, Singapore’s semiconductor industry serves as a critical component for several industries, including artificial intelligence (AI) applications, and other advanced technologies. This illustrates how semiconductor companies worldwide are deploying clever technologies to meet global demand amid industry obstacles, from lack of space to environmental concerns.”

“As challenges from abroad multiply—such as the increased geographic manufacturing diversification brought on by growing concerns surrounding geopolitical hotspots—Singapore stands out as a prime candidate to benefit from an influx of foreign direct investment (FDI),” added Tan. “Singapore’s resilience and growth prospects serve as key indicators of the profitability of ASEAN’s semiconductor industry.”

As the region’s leading hub for semiconductor investment, innovation, and production, Singapore has assumed a significant role in the global supply chain. Accounting for 11% of the global semiconductor market, Singapore has seen recent strategic investments and expansions by major global chipmakers expanded notable capabilities in wafer fabrication, constituting 5% of global wafer capacity.

To facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing, SEMI Southeast Asia invites semiconductor players in Singapore to participate in SEMICON Southeast Asia 2024, the industry’s premier global electronics manufacturing and supply chain event. May 28-30 at MITEC in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the exhibition and conference will bring together industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders from across Southeast Asia to discuss the latest trends, developments, and opportunities shaping the future of the semiconductor industry.

Themed Boosting Agility and Resiliency of the Global Electronics Supply Chain, SEMICON Southeast Asia 2024 will delve into critical areas driving the semiconductor industry including sustainability, chiplet technology, and workforce development. The event will feature more than 500 exhibiting companies and more than 1,000 booths, doubling participation from last year’s exhibition and conference. Registration is open.

“We believe that collaboration is key to unlocking the full potential of the semiconductor industry in Southeast Asia,” said Tan. “Through events like SEMICON Southeast Asia 2024, we aim to create a platform for industry players to come together, exchange ideas, and forge meaningful partnerships that will drive innovation, growth, and sustainability across the region.”
