SATO Global Business Services, the Singapore-based shared service centre supporting the SATO Group’s business globally, has selected NetApp to modernise its technology infrastructure.
SATO’s IT team will take the lead in implementing NetApp HCI, a scalable, on-premises hyper converged infrastructure for hybrid clouds, for its virtualization stack to consolidate its remote offices into data centres and deliver higher performance services to SATO Group’s business.
SATO is a global automatic identification and data collection (AIDC) solutions provider for leading manufacturing, logistics, retail, food & beverage, and healthcare companies.
SATO Global Business Services develops value-add firmware and software in addition to delivering best-in-class shared services to the SATO Group’s business globally. However, the previous infrastructure architecture did not enable SATO Global Business Services to deliver internal IT services at scale in an efficient manner. The infrastructure was built using equipment and devices from different providers. This conventional three-tier architecture made patch and upgrade cycles time consuming, created application performance bottlenecks and cost unnecessary time to coordinate with multiple parties to ensure system uptime. Furthermore, the system did not provide the flexibility the SATO Group requires as the business grows.
NetApp HCI will eliminate data siloes and reduce complexity in managing infrastructures, firmware and upgrade cycles. NetApp HCI also offers better data security compared to the previous infrastructure. This ‘all-in-one’ approach will provide SATO with increased application uptime, flexibility and performance, including an expected increase in network bandwidth from 10G to 25G. As a result, it will save time and be able to better deliver IT services and support across the Group’s global footprint, growing the business in line with fast-changing market demands.
