Main aspect of EV is focusing on electric propulsion system. It is no doubt that replacing internal combustion engine with electric motor making it quieter. However, weight reduction with the objective to increase EV battery efficiency making it more sensitive to various loads that generates unnecessary noises. Virtual design & testing helps to identify potential issues earlier at the design stage and avoid costly post-production troubleshooting. This presentation shows various cases related to noise issues pertaining to EV and how Industrial players are dealing with it from virtual design perspective.

 

Title: Connected And Autonomous Vehicles: Cybersecurity Risks And Solutions

Presenter: Dr Dennis Kengo Oka

While connected and autonomous vehicles provide several benefits such as improved comfort and user experience, they also introduce several cybersecurity risks. In this presentation, we will review some examples of such cybersecurity risks and discuss appropriate solutions to help organisations reduce the risks by finding and fixing vulnerabilities earlier in the software development lifecycle.

Title: Southeast Asia’s EV Charging & Infrastructure

The EV Charging Service Providers in South-East Asia (SEA) are known to be siloed, in which charging can only be done via the Service Providers’ mobile applications. As a result, car owners of EVs must install multiple mobile applications for EV charging. In addition, EV Charging Service Providers will need to test their selected chargers with various Electric Vehicles (EV) to ensure that they are compatible across different automobile manufacturers’ makes.

Kemarol Ibrahim is currently the Technical and Business Development Manager, for MSC Software Singapore, covering the ASEAN region. Over the past decade, Kemarol has engaged with a variety of customers in ASEAN and ANZ, mainly in Automotive and Machinery industries, where he has helped customers to set up processes based on the best practices and experiences from MSC global teams. Thanks to his previous stint at MSC Japan and studies there, he handles the technical and business requirements of all Japanese OEMs and Suppliers in the region. M. Kemarol holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan. His experiences and expertise cover Multibody Dynamics analysis and Nonlinear analysis.

 

Dr Dennis Kengo Oka
Principal Automotive Security Strategist at Synopsys Software Integrity Group
Synopsys Inc.

Dennis Kengo (Nilsson) Oka works at Synopsys Inc. as Principal Automotive Security Strategist. He has been involved in automotive security since 2006. Dennis received his Ph.D. in Computer Security, focusing on Automotive Security, from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden in 2009. In the past, he has worked with Volvo Car Corporation in Sweden where he researched authentication and integrity principles for wireless communication with vehicles. Dennis has also conducted research at SRI International in California, USA in the areas of security in wireless sensor networks and Bluetooth communication. Moreover, Dennis has conducted research at Waseda University in Japan in the areas of security and dependability in embedded systems. Prior to joining Synopsys, he worked for ETAS K.K. in Japan where he was responsible for the ESCRYPT (embedded security) business in Japan and for engineering and consulting projects in APAC. Dennis has over 70 publications consisting of conference papers, articles and books, and has presented at a number of international conferences and events.

 

Alfred Ang
Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
EV Charging Technology

Alfred Ang is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for EV Charging Technology. He had been involved in IT application development and maintenance projects since 2008. He has worked overseas in China for 10 years, in which he handled IT offshore and outsourced projects with Singtel and NCS. He is also the Managing Director of Wormwood, a local IT SME, which provides innovative IT solutions and IT consultancy services based on industry best practices. Alfred Ang holds Bachelor degree in Computing Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He’s also a certified Scrum Master, Product Owner and Lean Six Sigma green belt professional.
