The Covid-19 pandemic has created significant disruption in the manufacturing industry. However, it is evident that organisations who have invested in smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies have fared better.
And while there is light at the end of the tunnel, the pandemic is still a reality, and will be so for the foreseeable future.
To illustrate this, a recent McKinsey survey of manufacturers in Asia found that 45 percent of respondents struggled with a sudden materials shortage, while 41 percent experienced a steep drop in demand, and 30 percent suffered worker unavailability due to Covid-19 restrictions.
In light of this, companies such as Azbil, Vertiv, and Schaeffler look to mitigate many current and future problems manufacturers face during and post pandemic, helping them to streamline and navigate a complicated technological landscape.
Industrial Automation Asia (IAA) held a webinar on 27 April 2021, gathering industry experts from Azbil, Vertiv, and Schaeffler to discuss how we can achieve digital and operational excellence in smart manufacturing.
