“Get Digital. Now!” was the Festo message at the Industrial Transformation ASIA PACIFIC (ITAP) 2018, where they presented the latest technologies, solutions and training programmes for the production world of tomorrow.

Visitors could discover how Festo adopts an integrated approach to enable production systems to become digitally and intelligently networked throughout, and how added value is created for customers along a guided journey that is anchored by four key pillars: Learn, Build, Operate and Inspire.

One of the Festo displays was the Handling Guide Online (HGO) – a smart and intuitive tool to help configure and create new system solutions. The new configuration and ordering platform that is integrated into Festo’s online product catalogue ensures there is no need to interrupt the value chain. They can have the right standard handling system, including CAD model, in just a few clicks.

Also exhibited was the IOT compact handling system, which is a coordinated system kit consisting of kinematics, control system, software and visualisation, and is the basis for a variety of desktop applications. A gateway that is directly connected to a Cloud and the IOT can transmit the data of the components via OPC-UA to a dashboard, so data may be analysed in real time for condition monitoring.

In addition, the BionicCobot was showcased to highlight how robots and humans can work directly and safely together – inspiring future ways of collaborating with machines.

Beyond the boundaries of the booth, Festo exhibited its CP Factory at the exhibition’s Learning Lab as well. The CP Factory illustrates the practical implementation of a networked factory. It is a comprehensive, modular and expandable Industry 4.0 factory model which can be used to represent the entire value chain.

Festo also shared industry insights at several platforms. At ITAP’s Sandbox presentations, Electric Automation Business Development Manager, Southeast Asia, Eldar Saadatjoiasr presented on “Engineering the Future: Learn, Build, Operate and Inspire” while Head of Didactic, Asia Pacific, Volker Schmid spoke on “Qualification for Industry 4.0, from Industry, for Industry”. Their presentations provided stakeholders with insights on how to navigate change and transform opportunities into business successes.

Moreover, Head of Market Management, Southeast Asia, Bernd Gienger was part of a panel discussing the topic “Where next on the journey to Industry 4.0 in Asia Pacific?” The panel explored their collective Industry 4.0 experiences from the perspective of technical systems, management systems as well as people systems.

“The first edition of Industrial Transformation ASIA PACIFIC was a success, providing an excellent opportunity for all stakeholders in the region to learn, share, network and collaborate with each other. The exhibition also served as a strategic platform to shape and drive the fourth industrial revolution, and to support the region’s transformation needs. We are very happy to be able to leverage this platform to showcase Festo Industy 4.0 solutions, as well as to share with the industry and market how Festo can help to transform opportunities into business successes, ” Bernd Gienger said.

As a trendsetter and technology leader in tomorrow’s manufacturing, Festo is ready to support the region’s transformation needs. The company offers flexible, decentralised installation concepts and integrated mechatronic solution packages. From the mechanical system to the Industry 4.0-compatible cloud – everything comes from a single source.
