The discussion featured expert perspectives and insights on the manufacturing and trade landscape in Asia and Singapore and showcased DHL’s pioneering efforts as a leader in Green Logistics.

The session was helmed by DHL Express Singapore’s Managing Director Christopher Ong and Head of Commercial, Chee Yaw Chek, and guest speaker from the Singapore Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (SIPMM), Executive Director, Stephen Poh.

Singapore has established itself as a regional economic powerhouse, and the event delved into the current state of the manufacturing and service sectors in Singapore. Through data-driven insights from the Purchasing Managers’ Index, Executive Director at SIPMM, Stephen Poh, provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the existing business environment and potential areas of growth for different industries.

DHL has been advocating sustainability in its business practices since 2008, as the first global logistics company to establish a Climate Protection Program and set a quantifiable climate protection target. Chee Yaw Chek, Head of Commercial at DHL Express Singapore outlined proactive measures the company has taken to minimize its carbon footprint and drive the green logistics movement forward. The roundtable highlighted DHL Express’ innovative solutions, eco-friendly initiatives, and commitment to sustainable practices that set a benchmark for the industry.

As one of the most international companies in the world, DHL will continue to help enhance Singapore’s supply chain resilience, and contribute to the sustained growth and success of the country.”
Chee Yaw Chek, Head of Commercial at DHL Express Singapore, said, “In this period of climate change, DHL embraces our environmental responsibility through promoting change and innovation, led by our commitment towards ESG. That is why we are investing heavily in technologies like Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with the aim of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, and supporting our customers with their Scope 3 targets.”
“As Singapore’s economic prowess finds its roots in the dynamic interplay of our manufacturing and service sectors, knowledge exchange is important to pave the way for insightful and actionable strategies for the industry.
