With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Mitsubishi Electric Asia (MEAP) and Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) a new e-F@ctory application centre was officially opened on July 27, 2017 at the NYP campus in Singapore. The aim of the MoU and this new centre is for the co-development of manpower capabilities and specialist skills in the areas of industrial networking and fieldbus technology. In an age of connected things and smart technology, ensuring the nation’s manpower are professionally trained and developed is of the utmost importance.
This centre aims to equip the students and staff of NYP with the know-how and skills related to the latest industrial networking and fieldbus technology to face the challenges in the future of manufacturing.
These capabilities and skills would, in turn, be used to train the Pre-Employment (PET) and Continuing Education and Training (CET) students and deepen the competency level of the staff of NYP. NYP, together with MEAP, will work jointly in providing this technology to the industry.
As part of the collaboration effort, MEAP donated a suite of Factory Automation and Industry Fieldbus equipment, comprising of both hardware and software. This equipment will become the core elements for training in industry networking and the different CC-Link fieldbus technologies. MEAP also made available relevant training materials for NYP staff, students and industry personnel.
NYP has also been working closely with MEAP staff to craft three training systems relevant for NYP’s PET training, which is also applicable and adaptable for future CET courses.
