Hioki is pleased to announce the launch of the Power Analyzer PW3390. This product extends the performance of the legacy product (the 3390) to deliver basic accuracy of ±0.04 percent when measuring power, allowing high-accuracy power analysis and placing it among the most accurate instruments in its class. In addition, the new product features a measurement frequency band that has been extended to 200 kHz and incorporates a new phase correction function. Hioki expects the newly available PW3390 to make a significant contribution to the development, manufacture, maintenance, and management of electrical devices used in energy conservation and alternative energy applications. Eaton has expanded its range of MTL GECMA HMI workstations, introducing two new products – a Thin Client (TC) and Personal Computer (PC) version. The company can now offer a complete range of workstations based on a common platform design. As such, plant managers can reduce operation costs, optimise productivity and increase plant safety, with the additional benefits of reducing space in the cabinet, and future-proofing the plant. The TC and PC versions complement the existing MTL GECMA Remote Terminal (RT) which has a unique modular design. These next generation HMIs feature technology to offer high levels of safety, and are approved to global hazardous certification for Zone 1 environments. As a result they offer safe handling on site and guarantee high reliability in hazardous EX zone areas in chemical, pharmaceutical, refinery plus the oil and gas industries worldwide. Read more...

Dell EMC has announced that its turnkey hybrid cloud platform, Dell EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud (EHC), will be available for the first time on Dell EMC VxRail Appliances, the company’s hyper-converged infrastructure offering. As organisations increasingly move towards hybrid cloud as an enabler for IT transformation and adopt Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) for mission critical workloads, Dell EMC EHC on VxRail Appliances allows organisations to start small and grow as their demand for hybrid cloud services expand. The company claims the Dell EMC VxRail Appliance family of fully integrated, preconfigured and pre-tested HCI appliances offers the industry’s only HCI appliances powered by VMware vSAN and jointly engineered with VMware. Dell EMC EHC on VxRail helps meet rising customer demands for an HCI-based turnkey hybrid cloud solution. Industry analyst and research firm 451 Research notes in a new report that three out of four hyper-converged deployments are in the core data centre,… Read more...
Transcend Information, a manufacturer of industrial-grade products, has announced the industrial-grade SuperMLC JetFlash 740 USB flash drive. Positioned between its SLC and MLC NAND flash offerings, the company’s exclusive SuperMLC technology is designed to be a cost-effective solution that offers performance close to that of SLC NAND flash. Compliant with USB 3.1 Gen 1 specifications, the JetFlash 740 boasts excellent performance and endurance at affordable prices, making it suitable for demanding industrial grade applications. Drawing on the strengths of both Single-Level Cell (SLC) and Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND flash, the company has developed SuperMLC technology by reprogramming the two bits per cell of MLC into one bit per cell, greatly boosting performance. Using COB (Chip on Board) technology and housed in a high-quality metallic casing, the JetFlash 740 offers great vibration, dust, and splash resistance while remaining compact, suitable for stable, efficient data transfers in harsh industrial environments. Carlo Gavazzi Automation has launched its new series of photoelectric sensors, the PD30CN…PS with PointSpot. The visible red light narrow beam makes detection more accurate and allows detection of smaller objects, if compared to standard sensors, but larger than those a laser can detect. This new PD30CN…PS series consists of a background suppression version as well as a polarised retro-reflective version, both with a narrow red light PointSpot beam. The sensing distance is controlled by means of a potentiometer placed on the back of the housing and the adjustment is optimised for easy settings. Read more...
Carlo Gavazzi has developed the new generation of Parking Guidance System as an integral part of its Smart Building System based on the SBWEB BACnet Controller. This means that the sensors and actuators needed for intelligent control of lighting and ventilation can be connected directly to the PGS network infrastructure. In other words, you get two solutions in one system. With Carpark III from Carlo Gavazzi you get much more than a Parking Guidance System. You also get the opportunity to gain savings on your energy bill through intelligent control of lighting and ventilation. The Carpark Guidance System is no longer just a guidance system to help drivers find available lots. With the growing urbanisation, the number and size of carparks has grown exponentially. This trend is set to continue through the next decades. Hence the need to improve the energy efficiency in the carpark is essential. The Carpark III… Read more...
With the Fit Calculator the motion plastics specialist igus is now offering a new smartphone app for iOS and Android. This makes it easy to calculate dimensions and tolerances for bearings according to ISO 286. Enter the nominal size between 0.01 and 500 millimetres, enter tolerances for the housing bore and shaft and get the result. In addition, next to the maximum and minimum dimensions the associated type of fit (clearance or interference fit) is also shown. The tool in the streamlined app can also be used offline, which is particularly beneficial in closed machine or safety zones. At the same time, users can amend the units at any time between metric and imperial systems. Read more...
Belden has released the latest version of its Hirschmann network management software. Industrial HiVision 7.0 improves productivity by now allowing the simultaneous configuration of hundreds of devices from any manufacturer that are enabled with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). A new, customisable network dashboard provides instant visibility to key network health indicators, making it easy to take corrective or preventative measures. The result is improved availability and security for industrial networks. In many industrial facilities, Ethernet networks are growing and changing quickly, and it is increasingly difficult to manage and secure them. The SANS 2016 State of Industrial Control System Security Survey indicates that 67 percent of industrial organisations perceive severe or high levels of threat to control systems, up from 43 percent in 2015. The report also indicates that planned industrial control system security improvements are behind schedule. Read more...
With the new AG24, Siko has expanded its portfolio of positioning drives with intelligent RTE (real-time Ethernet). In addition to the tried and tested Siko positioning drives AG25 and AG26, which are characterised by their ultracompact design, the AG24 has now been released to expand the portfolio of actuators. Despite the output power and speed of the AG24, all the components are still integrated into one housing. No external components or junction boxes are needed to connect to your higher-level controller. This means that the drive is connected only to the supply voltage and the port for data exchange has to be connected directly to the controller or the next drive in the network. Read more...
